  • We are up in Fort Bragg. A house concert. The ocean is stunning.
  • Last night Lila and I sat in the hot tub and looked up at the scintillating heavens. I haven’t seen the stars so clearly since being in a hot springs in Oregon. Even smudges of galaxies. You know how it was possible to see all sorts of shit in the stars.
  • The zig-zagging ride across the mountains in the dark was horrific. Lila gets car sick even in the most gentle of car rides. We had to pull over every few moments because she was getting nauseous. Vomiting is not an option for us – it ruins the vocal chords. The dark exacerbated the problem because we couldn’t see anything but the swirly middle line of the road. Even I was dizzy.
  • We started off late because we wanted to play “Heaven Scent” for John Perry Barlow – our housemate’s wake. Odd to know he was co-writer with Bob Weir. We only met him when he was mortally ill. The timing of who you meet and when is magic. Never take it for granted.
  • A photograph/video was taken of us singing and a brilliant, light being can clearly be seen hovering between us. What a send off for John Perry Barlow.
  • Went shopping in Fort Bragg and we’re back to being stared at. Doesn’t bother me anymore but I do notice, I am always inspired to be kind and generous to everyone.
  • I think I’m going to learn to ferment some foods.

    Who’s Bob Weir?

I’d love to see that photo of the light between you two while playing. Maybe he’s the first citizen of the Festad.

Glad to see you to are working; paid gigs this time! Fucking cool! Well, maybe that Tao is still there.

Bob Weir = Grateful Dead. They were a jam band. The followers of this band were called “Dead Heads”. They dressed in very colorful clothing. Jerry Garcia was the lead.
In terms those interested in all things Grateful Dead this event is epic.
      The photo is coming.
Very weird to be a part of it all. I knew relatively nothing about the Grateful Dead. As I’ve often said: I don’t know anything about music. 🙂

The name didn’t immediately ring a bell, but “The Grateful Dead” is definitely a classic band I remember. Wow, holy adult bookstores, Batman! You actually knew this guy?! Christ, I think that’s an honor.
